Liberia, Africa Mission Trip Overview!

Last Sunday, I went to a meeting discussing an upcoming mission trip to Liberia, Africa. We will be helping a local school near Monrovia by installing water filters and a UV system, which kills bacteria and viruses in water. We will also serve by having daily devotions for the students, who range from very young to my age! The message we bring is a call to repentance and faith in Christ, the Lord. Though President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is a Christian, and about forty percent of Liberians are "Christian Adherents" according to Operation World, about half of the students that attend the school are Muslim. Much of the faculty are Muslim as well, and they need to hear the gospel of Christ, and I am going with a local church to be a witness to them. I also will have the opportunity to be an encouragement to the Christian students as well. Others on my team will provide teacher training, complete paint jobs at the school, complete small construction projects, and assess the site for future projects. Near the end of the trip, we will visit a local orphanage and look for ways we can help them. Our work is being completed in response to requests we have received from the school and orphange.

We will be leaving bright and early on December 1 and make the thirty plus hour trip to Monrovia, Liberia. We plan to return on December 12. Pray that we will be bold in sharing the gospel and clearly present our message to the students and faculty. Also that we would not be distracted from sharing the gospel, as we will see many needs that may overwhelm us, but we must remember that the greatest need is that they would be saved! Pray that things will go smoothly: the traveling, the various construction and water projects, our relations with the students and faculty, and that we would not get sick! Most of all, pray that the Lord would open up the hearts of those that hear the gospel and save them!
